A missing teenager from Apopka was killed on Wednesday morning after crashing a vehicle that had been reported as stolen.
The fatal crash occurred at around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, near the intersection of Kelly Park Road and Chandler Road, according to the Apopka Police Department.
APD stated that the 17-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was airlifted to a local trauma center.
“Regrettably, the driver succumbed to (his) injuries,” stated the police department.
After completing a preliminary investigation, APD stated that officers learned the 17-year-old driver had been reported as a missing person. In addition, the teen was operating a stolen vehicle at the time of the crash.
The identity of the teen driver was not released by law enforcement.
The Apopka Police Department stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
