Newly released body cam footage shows a shootout and the eventual arrest of 30-year-old Shandricka Warren, who attempted to rob an Orlando-area McDonald’s and fired shots at officers who were responding to the scene.
The video was released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon and includes a message from Orange County Sheriff John Mina.
The incident took place on Saturday, April 30, at around 10:35 p.m. when Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call about an armed robbery in progress at the McDonald’s at 4640 South Orange Blossom Trail.
According to reports, Warren had allegedly fired a handgun inside the restaurant and made threatening statements before police arrived.
Upon their arrival, Warren opened fire from inside the restaurant at deputies. The video shows those deputies keeping track of Warren and her weapon’s movements.
Deputies returned fire and, after a brief shootout, spent six hours attempting to negotiate a peaceful surrender.
The video ends with Warren being taken into custody, sometime around 4:45 a.m.
In addition to being charged with burglary in a structure and assault with a firearm, Warren now faces an additional three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies involved in the shooting are on paid temporary administrative leave.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, State Attorney’s Office, and Orange County Sheriff’s Office will all conduct separate reviews of the deputies and their actions in the case, according to the report.
