20-year-old Altamonte Springs man ejected, killed riding dirt bike without lights

A 20-year-old Altamonte Springs man riding a dirt bike without lights was killed on SR 15A on Thursday evening after he was ejected from his motorcycle by a turning vehicle.

The accident took place on Thursday, May 27, around 10:30 p.m., near the intersection of State Road 15A and Euclid Avenue in Volusia County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was traveling northbound on State Road 15A in the outside lane on a Honda dirt bike, when a 2007 Toyota Corolla being driven southbound made a left turn and struck the bike.

The motorcyclist was ejected and transported to AdventHealth Deland where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Corolla, a 36-year-old Deland man, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, a 26-year-old Deland man, was uninjured.

The report indicates that the dirt bike had no lights equipped and that the driver did not see the bike before turning.
