On June 21, 2022, Richard “Robie” Robinson passed peacefully to Eternity after a long illness. Robie’s priorities, which were obvious in how he lived, were to love and honor God, to protect and provide for his family which he adored, and to be a trustworthy servant of The Law. Robie had a strong trust in Jesus and knew that God was guiding his steps. Even during his illness Robie understood that he was created for a purpose and it was his desire to show God’s love by his good disposition and treatment of others. Robie’s motto was “Always do the right thing” and he successfully lived up to that standard
Robie was a founding member of the Gray-Robinson law firm and saw its growth from four young lawyers in Orlando to a firm of more than 300 lawyers with offices throughout the state of Florida. He loved the law and helping his clients find good solutions to their business problems.
Robie enjoyed many interests: he was a fine golfer; he loved traveling both in North America and abroad; and he especially liked camping, biking and hiking together with his family. Serving others was important to Robie and he enjoyed his role as a Boy Scout leader and mentoring young men. He was also active in alumni activities at the University of Florida and the University of Florida College of Law from which he graduated. He was a lifelong Gator fan.
Robie leaves behind his wife of 59 years and his daughter and grandson, all who will miss this faithful and amazing man. Robie was a great husband and father and he especially made sure his wife Gail felt loved and cherished. He will be greatly missed by the people whose lives he touched, but there is comfort in knowing that he is in the presence of God and is whole once again.
A celebration of Robie’s life will be held on Sunday, July 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the Oak Room at Oak Hammock, 5100 SW 25th Blvd, Gainesville, FL. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Gainesville, FL branch of the Salvation Army or to Desire Street Ministries of Atlanta, GA.
