Sanford foster parent pleads guilty to molesting, recording video of sex abuses with children under his care

A 47-year-old Sanford man has pled guilty to molesting and recording sexual abuses with at least 16 children that were under his foster care.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Florida, Justin Dwayne Johnson has pled guilty to five counts of producing and attempting to produce videos depicting children being sexually exploited and one count of possessing child sexual abuse materials.

According to a plea agreement, in January 2022, an investigation was initiated into Johnson after Child Protection Services was alerted by an acquaintance that he was secretly video-recording foster children in the nude. Johnson disclosed to the the acquaintance that he had videos on his cellphone and computer that depicted him molesting children.

During their investigation, law enforcement officers found multiple images and videos depicting children being sexually abused by children under Johnson’s care to produce depictions of sexually explicit conduct. Additionally, authorities found numerous videos and images depicting other young children being sexually abused.

According to court records, to date, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has identified at least 16 child victims that were sexually exploited by Johnson.

Johnson faces a minimum sentence of 15 years and maximum sentence of up to 30 years in federal prison on each of the five production counts, and up to 20 years for the possession count. He will be sentenced on October 12, 2022.
