Mel Trent Tivis, III was born in Kansas City, MO on 8 Jun 1959 to the late Maxine and Mel Tivis, II. Mel was enlisted into the Army in from 1978-1990. He moved to Orlando, FL in 1990 and began working at the Central Florida Reception Center. Mel attended Valencia Community College and University of Central Florida, and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, with a minor in Substance Abuse. He went on to began a Career with the Veterans Administration as A Peer Support Counselor until his retirement.
Mel leaves behind as he would say, his beautiful bride Maria Tivis; Four children Marcus Tivis (Kristy)Poughkeepsie, VA, Melanie Tivis Olando FL, Marlon Tivis(Jazmine) Indian Head Mariyland and Chantle Tivis Fort Myers, Florida. Six sisters,: LaTonia Jackson(Ronald Jackson), Tracey Hayes, Patrice Tivis, Jocelyn, Tivis, Shirley Lufon and Kim Glasgow Kansas City.. Two grandchildren Jaydon and Justin Tivis Indian Head Mariyland. Three brother-in-laws Charles Gaither(Sharita) Orlando Florida Fred Gaither(Kimberly)Pooler Georgia and Ronald Jackson, Kansas City.
Mel is predeceased in death by his parents Maxine and Mel Tivis, his wife, six sisters, four children, two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
