Winter Park Fire Rescue Department officials believe a fire that consumed a Winter Park garage was possibly started by a lightning strike.
On Tuesday, September 20, WPFRD crews responded to a home on Chapman Circle at around 4:15 p.m. after receiving reports of a structural fire.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage. The fire was put out and no injuries were reported.
Shortly after extinguishing the fire, officials said they were still able to detect smoke in the area.
The heavy damage created by the fire was contained to the garage area, according to authorities.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire crews said that lightening-producing storms were in the area and could have been the cause.
