The administration of the Scholastic Aptitude Test scheduled for Saturday will be rescheduled, as Orange County Public Schools remain closed through the weekend.
According to Orange County Public Schools Chief Communications Officer Scott Howat, all school offices, extracurricular activities, and athletic events are canceled in the county through Monday as a result of Hurricane Ian.
During an update provided by Orange County officials on Friday, Howat reported that at least one school, Riverdale Elementary, would not open on time due to “major flooding issues.” Howat said that school administrators are currently discussing alternative options for students, including the possibility of virtual learning.
“We have not received any direction from the state as far as the virtual option, but we will look at that as a possibility,” said Howat.
Howat made special note of the SAT that was scheduled to be administered across the county tomorrow, saying it would be postponed until a later date.
