Luis Eduardo Collazos Navia was born in Cali, Colombia on February 24, 1946 and went to rest in the Lord’s abode on September 24, 2022.
Hard-working, responsible, loving man, dedicated to his family. His priority was always his wife and children.
Luis Eduardo arrived in New York City in November 1971 to conquer the American dream with his wife, Florencia, who was pregnant with their second son, Luis, and with their daughter, Martha.
He lived in New York for 13 years, during which time he worked at Batos Bakery, American Airlines, and then as a taxi driver in the Big Apple. He enjoyed his free time taking his family on outings to tourist places such as Radio City, Empire State, Twin Towers and, of course, the favorite place of many in those days to eat “Tad’s Steaks”.
His great passion… FOOTBALL! Sports fan and of course a fan of América de Cali. He loved spending the weekends at Flushing Meadow Park playing for the Galapagos team.
Another of his hobbies was meeting with his family on the beach and meetings with his relatives listening and dancing salsa while enjoying some Budweisers. He always came dressed in his unique style, with bright colors and his sunglasses.
In his last years in New York, he asked Florencia for one more son and arrived in Orlando in 1984 with his family of 4, which now included his baby Hernan Darío.
In Orlando he owned a transportation company taking clients from the Airport to the tourist areas of Orlando and to Port Canaveral.
In his spare time he followed his passion for soccer as the coach of his team “El Deportivo Cali”. He enjoyed sharing his passion with his children and with his daughter who was going to cheer them on.
Luis was a fighting man. She gave us more than 10 years of her life fighting for her to be with us. His happiness was to share with his children and grandchildren. His love for them was pure, always full of love, tenderness and compassion.
He is survived by his wife, Florencia Collazos, his children, Martha Collazos, Luis E. Collazos Jr. and wife Elizabeth Collazos, Hernan Dario Collazos and wife Paola Collazos, his grandchildren, Anthony Camacho, Christian Siberon, Alexia Siberon, Katherine Collazos, Matteo Collazos and Sofia Collazos. His great-grandchildren Sebastian Siberon, Anthony Armani Camacho, and Aria Perez Siberon.
Thank you Luis for all the beautiful memories you leave us. We will always remember your cheerful smile, your love for us, your love, dedication and dedication to your wife, children and grandchildren. Rest in Peace, you will always live in our hearts.
