Orlando restaurant in Yelp’s top 100 fails third health inspection since May

An Orlando restaurant that was ranked among Yelp’s top 100 restaurants in the state of Florida for 2022, was forced to temporarily close its doors for the third time this year after an inspector cited multiple food health code violations.

Mee Thai was forced to temporarily close its restaurant at 1200 Lee Road on November 30 after a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation found nine code violations.

Among the violations cited was the presence of both roaches and rodents, as evidenced by live roaches found under the salad-making table. Additionally, nearly 20 rat droppings were found on clean plates, and near the refrigeration unit.

The restaurant was permitted to reopen on Thursday, December 1.

The closure marked the third for Mee Thai in the past seven months. The restaurant was also forced to temporarily close exactly three months prior on August 30, after a health inspector cited 18 health code violations, including 5 labeled high priority. Among the violations noted during that visit were the presence of rodents, as evidenced by 28 rodent droppings that were found around the kitchen and restaurant.

In May, the restaurant was forced to close for similar violations, including the presence of roach activity.

In June, Mee Thai was named by Yelp as number 43 on a list of 100 of the best restaurants in Florida.
