Pedestrian struck, run over in fatal hit-and-run crash in east Orlando

A vehicle is being sought in a hit-and-run in east Orlando that claimed the life of a woman on Wednesday night.

The fatal accident took place near the intersection of State Road 551/Goldenrod Road and Chapel Trace Drive at around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 29-year-old Casselberry woman was driving a 2014 Toyota 4Runner northbound on Goldenrod Road, just south of Chapel Trace Drive in the inside lane.

A female pedestrian, who police have not identified, was standing in the northbound, inside lane of the roadway, in the direct path of the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota told authorities that she did not see the pedestrian in the roadway before she struck her.

After she was struck, the pedestrian was propelled into the roadway. As she was laying in the roadway, a second vehicle traveling northbound ran over the woman. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision.

Police say that the second vehicle was described as a black sedan, but no other information or details were provided.

The pedestrian was transported to AdventHealth East Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Toyota and her passengers, a 28-year-old Orlando man and a 34-year-old Casselberry man, were all uninjured in the crash.

Anyone with information about this crash or the car that fled the scene is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213, or the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
