A Deltona woman was killed after she suffered an apparent medical episode, crashed into a median, and ran into vehicle going the opposite direction on State Road 417.
The fatal accident took place on SR 417, just north of its interchange with Interstate 4, at 8:10 a.m. on Friday, January 27.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Honda Pilot southbound on SR 417, just past the interchange with I-4. Authorities believe the woman suffered a medical episode, which caused her vehicle to travel into the median and strike the barrier wall.
The vehicle then continued into the northbound lanes, where it struck the front of a Chevy Colorado being driven by a 49-year-old Orlando man.
The woman was transported to the Central Florida Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
