Sadly, William Edward Jones, 84, went home to be with loved ones on February
26, 2023. Born in Springfield, OH he moved to Florida as a child. A 1957 graduate of Groveland HIgh School, he was a gifted athlete and avid outdoorsman.
Known as Gator to locals, he moved to St Cloud in the early seventies. He worked as a lineman for Florida Power and later the City of St Cloud where he rose to the position of Superintendent. While there he mentored new linemen and electrical workers. He was a hard worker but played as hard as he worked – whether it was hunting, fishing, grilling or dancing! He loved entertaining and was well known for his cookouts and bonfires.
Gator is predeceased by his beloved wife, Juanita Sue Jones as well as his mother, father and brother.
He is survived by his children Marcia Kessinger, Susan Hicks, Kay Holland and Alan Jones as well as his stepchildren Janet Mullins, Tommy Darby, Tanya Willet and Teena Knock as well as his sister, Carolyn Swearingen. He also leaves 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family is hosting a celebration of life and memorial at his home on March 11th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to your local hospice are encouraged.
