Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker highlight Orlando Ballet’s upcoming season

The Orlando Ballet has released its play list for its upcoming season at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The organization released the schedule for its full slate of shows on Monday, May 1. All of the shows will be performed at the center’s new Steinmetz Hall, which is located at 445 S Magnolia Avenue in downtown Orlando.

The season will kick off with Reflections: 50th Anniversary Celebration, which will commemorate the Orlando Ballet’s 50th season. The show will offer a “look back” at how the organization has evolved over the last half century, from its “humble start” to becoming “one of Central Florida’s leading performing arts organizations.”

The shows will continue with add-on performances of Uncorked in October and The Nutcracker in December. The latter of the two will have a 16-day run leading up to the final show on Christmas Eve.

The season then will take a brief hiatus before returning in February 2024 with a four-night performance of The Sleeping Beauty. With music composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the Orlando Ballet’s rendition of the show is choreographed by Christopher Stowell.

Additional shows are scheduled for March and May, with a the season scheduled to end with Kenneth Tindall’s Casanova.
