A 25-year-old man who distributed child sexual abuse images and videos to an undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation agent is facing up to 120 years in prison for multiple felony charges.
Troy Mitchell McGowan, of Deltona, was indicted on Friday, May 5, on three counts of distributing, two counts of receiving, and one count of possession of child sexual abuse images and videos, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
McGowan is accused of using a chat application to download images and videos depicting children being sexually abused. He then took those images and allegedly distributed them over the internet.
In one instance, McGowan allegedly distributed the materials with an undercover agent working for the FBI.
If convicted, McGowan faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 5 years, and up to 20 years, for each count of distributing and receiving child sexual abuse images and videos, and up to 20 years’ imprisonment for possessing child sex abuse images and videos.
