A pedestrian was seriously injured after he was struck by a car while attempting to cross State Road 600 in Longwood on Tuesday.
Longwood Police Department officers responded to reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian in the area of State Road 600 and Orange Avenue around 7:18 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9.
According to police, a silver Ford passenger car was traveling northbound on State Road 600, passing Orange Avenue in the center lane.
A pedestrian was crossing west in the northbound lanes of SR 600, north of Orange Avenue. The man was midblock and was not at a crosswalk.
As he was crossing, he was struck by the silver Ford. He was transported to a local hospital before he was airlifted to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed down for several hours as police investigated the matter. The investigation is still ongoing, according to LPD.
