A French café that operated for over a decade has closed the doors on its location in downtown Orlando.
Le Gourmet Break officially closed down its café on April 28, according to a sign posted on the business and on social media by owners Aurelie and Alban Malagnoux.
“It is with truly deep emotion that I announce you today the closure of Le Gourmet Break,” say the Malagnouxs. “Getting to know every one of you and be honored to serve our French dishes along the years was a blessing.”
The couple cited the landlord’s “non-compliance with its maintenance obligations,” saying that the goodwill of their restaurant has been “jeopardized.” The owners say “the non-resolution of a major problem and lack of communication with the building management” resulted in the couple having to close the establishment.
“You all will be missed and will stay forever in our minds,” reads the statement.
Le Gourmet Break joins at least a dozen other cafés, restaurants, and bars to have opened or closed over the past year in the ever-changing business landscape of downtown Orlando.
That includes Stemma Craft Coffee, Double O’s Coffee, and City Arts Café, which all opened coffee shops in the past year.
That also includes Tacos My Guey, Taco Kat, and Solita, which have all opened new taco restaurants within a few blocks of each other. Birria1983 will soon join that list as well.
The list of new bars is extensive and includes Parlay, Bellhop, High Tide, High-T, Fixtion, Game Room and Social Club, Pups Pub and Proper, which have all opened in the past year.
