Pickup hits scooter, kills 33-year-old rider near middle school

A 33-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup truck while he was riding his scooter near Deltona Middle School on Wednesday afternoon.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the fatal accident just after 12 p.m. near the intersection of Enterprise Road and Jena Drive.

According to police, David Antonio Radosta was driving his Suzuki scooter northbound on Enterprise Road when a Dodge pickup truck entered the intersection and turned in front of him.

The scooter struck the front of the pickup truck and Radosta was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash.

Radosta celebrated his 33rd birthday on April 17 and was an avid video game enthusiast, regularly posting clips on his social media profiles.

At the time of the crash, the roadway was shut down for several hours until 4 p.m., when it reopened.
