A springs area at a local park has been temporarily closed by county officials who say there has been alligator activity in the area.

Rock Springs, which is located within Kelly Park, has been shut down since Thursday and will continue to be closed to the public through at least Saturday, according to the Orange County Parks and Recreation Department.

“For the safety of our guests, Kelly Park’s Rock Springs is closed through Saturday 6/10 due to alligator activity,” reads a statement posted by OCPR on social media.

Officials say that Kelly Park, which is located at 400 E Kelly Park Road in Apopka, will remain open daily until capacity is reached.

Kelly Park is open each day during the summer from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The waterfront and nature trails close each day one hour prior to the park closing. For more information on Kelly Park, or the keep track of the status of Rock Springs, visit the Orange County Parks and Recreation website.
