Lake Eola Park recently unveiled a new wheelchair lift to help disabled riders get into and out of the park’s handicap-accessible swan boats.
The city of Orlando made the announcement on Friday, June 9, that a new wheelchair lift has been installed at Lake Eola Park, which is located at 512 E Washington Street in downtown.
“Accessible adventure awaits all at Lake Eola Park, where everyone can now easily partake in the swan boat experience,” reads a statement from the city’s newsletter.
Attached to the boat dock, the wheelchair lift provides a way for residents and visitors with disabilities to access the ADA-compliant swan boat, which has been available for years at the park.
“We understand the importance of usability and accessibility for all who reside and visit our vibrant city. This dock wheelchair lift was a necessary and important improvement that enhances the lives of every individual in our community,” reads the city’s statement.
Last year, the city temporarily closed the popular downtown attraction for upgrades.
