One of the most popular professional basketball players in the Philippines will play for the Orlando Magic during the team’s upcoming NBA Summer League stint.
Kai Sotto, who stands 7’3″ tall, will lace up for the City Beautiful’s pro basketball team during this year’s NBA Summer League, which takes place from in Las Vegas from July 7 to July 17.
According to a report by Quinito Henson of The Philippine Star, Sotto garnered interest from multiple teams and decided that Orlando offered the “best situation” for the player.
Sotto is no stranger to the NBA, having participated in training camps for the Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks, and New York Knicks in the past. Before the 2022 NBA Draft, Sotto worked out for the Magic.
Sotto, who turned 21 years old last month, played two years with the Adelaide 36ers of the Australian National Basketball League before signing with the Hiroshima Dragonflies of the Japanese B.League earlier this year.
Sotto joins a packed roster for this year’s contests in Las Vegas, including two new players in Anthony Black and Jett Howard, who were drafted by the Magic during the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday.
