OZMENT, Mary Jo Tudor, 79, died May 25, 2023.
She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Wesley Ozment of Winter Garden, Fla. and Michael Tudor Ozment of Charlottesville, Va.; and her sister, Paula Rae Gilbert of King, N.C. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Erin Kacenga Ozment of Winter Garden, Fla. and Elizabeth Whittenburg Ozment of Charlottesville, Va.; granddaughter, Elena Beth Ozment; and grandson, Joseph Wesley Ozment. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Wesley Ozment.
She retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia where she spent twenty-five years in the field of purchasing. She worked in the departments of Correctional Education, Criminal Justice Services, Corrections, and Social Services where she was dedicated to advocating for the lives of those who needed it most. She was also an instructor of history at Virginia Commonwealth University. In her retirement, Mary Jo enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, and tending her garden.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Welborne United Methodist Church, 920 Maybeury Dr., Richmond, Va. 23229. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Humane Society.
