Sanford police investigating death of man found in street

The Sanford Police Department is currently investigating the homicide of a man who was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the middle of a local street.

Police responded to 14th Street and Oleander Avenue on August 30 in reference to a shooting with injuries.

Upon arrival, officers located Kenneth Jackson, 35, laying in the middle of the street. Jackson was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

According to police, during their preliminary investigation they have determined that this was an isolated incident and that the victim and suspect were possibly known to each other.
