Norma Cynthia Prendergast, age 86, of Long Island NY/Winter Springs, Florida passed away on Monday, October 3rd, 2023 at her Family Home. She was born Saturday October 10th 1936 in Portland, Jamaica, WI, Daughter to her late parents, Naomi and Beckford King. On September 8th, 1962, she married her
beloved husband Horace Prendergast who preceded her home 7/12/2012.
Norma was a dedicated worker, she started as a Computer Programmer with the Dept. of Statistics in Jamaica, she then went on to work with Dynamic Sounds (music studio owned by Byron Lee). Norma also worked as a payroll supervisor for the world renowned Desnoes & Geddes beverage distributor. She
rounded out her Jamaican career as the Owner/Operator of Minute Service Restaurant a famous establishment in Kingston, Jamaica. After migrating to America Norma worked in HR/Payroll at Peoples Alliance Federal Credit Union for 21 years.
Norma is survived by her three children, Allan Miller (Middle Island, NY), Sharon Hemmings (Winter Springs, Fl) and Kirk Prendergast (Oviedo, Fl); seven grandchildren, Craig Dixon, Kerri-Anne Miller, Danielle Bowks, Dwaine Miller, Kirk Prendergast Jr, Terek Miller and Michael Prendergast; ten greatgrandchildren Jhomal, Justin, Niajah, Jada, Anthony, Omarion, Ian, Leyla, Nyla, Jayla, one great-great grandchild Jhabari; numerous loving Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Family Friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Homes – South Seminole Chapel, 335 E State Rd. 434, in Longwood.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be held immediately following the Saturday service at All Faiths Memorial Park 1390 Park Dr. in Casselberry.
