A man who allegedly followed a woman home and forced his way into her apartment was arrested after a multi-week search.
Xavier Mendez, 31, was arrested on Wednesday on multiple felony charges related to the November 26 incident.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Mendez followed the woman to her apartment near Lokanotosa Trail and Alafaya Club Drive on the evening in question.
Video surveillance provided by police shows a man, who they believe is Mendez, running up to the apartment unit.
Mendez is then seen moments later running away from the unit. According to police, the woman was able to fight him off with the aid of a roommate.
Mendez is being charged with attempted battery of a person 18 years or older, kidnapping, and burglary of a dwelling with assault. He is currently being held at the Orange County Jail on no bond.
