The reigning champion of the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, who currently plays for the Orlando Magic G League affiliate, has been invited to defend his title at the next event.
Mac McClung, who currently plays for the Osceola Magic, has been invited by the National Basketball Association to participate in the 2024 All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, which will take place in Indianapolis in February.
The news was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
McClung was named the G League Player of the Month in November and is currently averaging 25.4 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds over 13 games with the team.
Formerly the Lakeland Magic, the Osceola Magic recently rebranded and relocated to the Osceola Heritage Park, kicking off its inaugural season at the new venue last month.
McClung, 24, played college basketball at Georgetown University and Texas Tech University. He went undrafted in 2021 and has spent time on multiple NBA teams, including the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.
In February, McClung signed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Just a few days later, he rose to national fame after claiming victory in the 2023 NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, becoming the first G League player to participate in the event and also the first to win it.
In September, McClung signed with the Orlando Magic. He was waived by the team on October 21 before signing with the Osceola Magic on November 2.
