Apopka man dies after crashing into pole near intersection in Orange County

A 19-year-old Apopka man died early Sunday morning after his car veered off the roadway and struck a concrete pole in Orange County.

At around 3:20 a.m., the man was traveling northbound on Orange Blossom Trail, near the intersection of Boy Scout Boulevard, in a 2009 Honda Civic, according to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP stated that the car was in the inside lane when it “ran off the roadway” and into the outside shoulder. Moments later, the left side of the vehicle collided with a concrete pole.

The driver and sole occupant of the car sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.

A trooper noted in the report that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

According to FHP, the accident is still under investigation.
