Pedestrian struck and killed by car in Osceola County

A 63-year-old woman from Kissimmee died on Monday morning after she was struck by a car while crossing a roadway in Osceola County.

The accident occurred near the intersection of San Lorenzo Road and Koa Street in Kissimmee at around 6:15 a.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP stated that a 2017 Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Koa Street, approaching San Lorenzo Road. At the same time, the female pedestrian was walking nearby in a marked crosswalk in a dimly lit area.

The car’s driver, a 51-year-old Kissimmee man, was unable to avoid a collision, and the front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian.

A trooper noted in the report that the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two occupants of the car – the driver and a 16-year-old female passenger – were not injured in the crash. They remained on-scene following the collision.

The roadway was blocked on Monday morning, at the intersection of San Lorenzo Road and Koa Street, due to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
