A 22-year-old man from Deltona was killed on Sunday morning after his motorcycle crashed into an SUV in Orange City.
At around 10:15 a.m., the Orange City Police Department and Orange City Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of Saxon Boulevard and Medical Plaza Drive in reference to a two-vehicle crash.
According to police, an investigation revealed that a 2022 red Ducati motorcycle, driven by the 22-year-old man, was traveling eastbound on Saxon Boulevard moments before the crash.
At the same time, the second vehicle – a 2023 gray Mitsubishi SUV – was heading westbound on Saxon Boulevard.
The police department stated that the driver of the SUV, identified as a 69-year-old Deltona man, attempted a left turn near the 1000 block of Saxon Boulevard. The vehicle proceeded to enter the direct path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
After the initial impact, the motorcyclist was ejected from his vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
The SUV’s driver sustained injuries that were described as “minimal.”
