Walter Leroy Hallberg

Pastor Walter Leroy Hallberg went to be with His Lord on April 10, 2024. Walter was born on May 10, 1942, in Jamestown, New York. Those who knew him referred to him as Wally. We will do that from here on. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones in Longwood, FL at the age of 81.

Wally was the pastor of First Baptist Church in Sherman, NY from 1972-1979. From 1979-1985 he was the pastor of McLane Baptist Church in McKean, PA. In 1985 Wally started his ministry of evangelism where he would hold revival services across the country. In 1999, the Lord called Wally to become the pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Longwood. FL where he served his Lord until 2020.

Wally is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol (Campbell) Hallberg, and two loving sons, Timothy Walter Hallberg and Mark Allen Hallberg. He also leaves behind a precious daughter-in-law, Janet Lynn Hallberg. He was blessed with three grandchildren – Issac Timothy Hallberg, Elijah David Hallberg and Sarah Rose Mae Hallberg of Ambler, PA. Additionally, he is survived by three sisters and 2 brothers: Nancy Sinatra and her husband Charles Sinatra, Judy Beardsley, Beverly Yachetta, and Ron Hallberg – all from Jamestown, NY and his twin brother, Donald Hallberg of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents: Florence Franklin and Clifford Hallberg, his sister Arlene Knapp and two nephews – Bryan Knapp and Jordan Adams.

Wally graduated from Falconer High School in Falconer, NY where he lived until he went into the Navy. He was proud to serve his country as a Navy Corpsman. After his discharge from the Navy he attended and graduated from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. Walter accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart on August 6, 1961, shortly before he joined the Navy. He had a heart for telling others about his Lord.
