The Orlando Police Department’s special victims unit is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly exposed himself to a girl who was walking to school.
The incident occurred on Friday, May 3, between 8:40 a.m. and 9 a.m., while the female student/victim was walking to school in the area of Summerlin Avenue and Washington Street in Orlando.
According to OPD, an unknown white male suspect was in a blue sedan when he approached the victim. He was “unclothed and exposing himself” while inside the vehicle, and the victim quickly walked away.
Orlando police stated that the vehicle began following the victim, and she was able to run away. Her mother contacted law enforcement, and OPD officers immediately began canvassing the area for the suspect.
“Detectives (are continuing) to investigate along with the help of our Crime Center in reviewing surveillance cameras from businesses and residents in the area,” stated OPD in a media release on Sunday morning.
The police department further stated that the suspect may have been in the area of the 7-Eleven on Summerlin Avenue prior to encountering the victim.
According to police, the male suspect has brown hair and is approximately six feet tall. No further details were provided by OPD.
In the media release on Sunday, the police department added that while social media posts containing a photo of a blue vehicle are currently circulating online, the vehicle in the photo has not been confirmed to be the suspect’s vehicle at this time.
Detectives believe that the suspect’s vehicle is “possibly a blue sedan,” though the specific model is unknown.
Law enforcement is advising the public to avoid approaching the vehicle or suspect.
If you or anyone you know has any information that can help officers locate the male suspect, the Orlando Police Department asks that you call 911.
