Kissimmee expands its Freebee rideshare service

The City of Kissimmee announced on Monday that it has expanded its Freebee rideshare service to provide an efficient and cost-free mode of travel within the downtown area.

According to the city, this service is designed as a last-mile solution for commuters arriving at the SunRail/Intermodal Station. To facilitate efficient coverage, the service’s boundaries have been established to encompass both the inner and outer areas surrounding the station.

The rideshare service now extends its reach to locations such as the U.S. Post Office for essential services, Oak Street Ballpark for sports and activities, and numerous local businesses. This is in addition to the previous destinations of Valencia College, HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, the Kissimmee Medical Arts District, City Hall, Osceola County Courthouse, Kissimmee Lakefront Park, and many others.

With three Teslas and one ADA-accessible van tailored for disabled riders, the Freebee service facilitates transportation from SunRail to various destinations within the service area. Freebee, which is open to all visitors and residents of Kissimmee, provides convenient, clean, and timely access to multiple points of interest and services.

“Expanding the Freebee transportation service underlines our commitment to providing accessible, eco-friendly, and efficient transportation options for our residents,” stated Mike Steigerwald, City Manager of Kissimmee. “We aim to ensure that all residents have easy access and alternate forms of transit to important destinations within our community.”

The key features of the Freebee service in Kissimmee include:

  • A free ride service for all users.
  • Convenient booking via the Freebee app or by calling 855-918-3733.
  • The availability of transportation anywhere within the service area of Kissimmee.
  • Eco-friendly electric vehicle service, which helps ease traffic and carbon emissions.
  • The availability of an ADA-accessible van.

The Freebee service operates on Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The expansion of Freebee services represents the first phase of a comprehensive enhancement plan. The City of Kissimmee intends to implement subsequent expansions to further improve service quality and accessibility while considering the impact on the community.
