Raymond Charles Berns Jr

Raymond Berns, a beloved father and loyal friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 25, 2024, due to a pre-existing health condition.

Born on July 14, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Raymond was the son of Raymond Berns, Sr. and Bette (DeWitt) Leach. His formative years were spent in the metropolitan area of Detroit, Michigan, where he cultivated lifelong friendships, before moving to Boyne City, Michigan, then Port Orange, Florida.

Raymond, also known as “Bud,” possessed a generous spirit that touched the lives of everyone he encountered. His warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of everyone he met. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor or sharing a laugh with his bowling league buddies, Bud’s presence brightened the room.
An avid outdoorsman, Bud found solace in nature. Fishing trips with his daughters and hunting expeditions with friends created cherished memories. Bud’s talents extended beyond the wilderness. He was an exceptional cook, delighting friends and family with his appetizers, smoked meats, and mouthwatering desserts.

Bud is survived by his two daughters: Amy Stanton (Jesse) and Rebecca Holbrook (Ryan). His former spouse, Melissa Berns, also mourns his passing. Bud’s legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren: Reagan and Wyatt Stanton, and Adelynn, Taylor, and Grayson Holbrook. Siblings Cheryl Agosta, Judy Poff (Robert), Debbie Berns, and David Berns share in the grief, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond Berns, Sr., and Bette Leach, as well as other cherished relatives and close friends.

Raymond Berns will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, laughter, and zest for life. May he rest in peace.
