It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Philomena Desamours-Saunders on August 22nd, 2024, a woman whose life was defined by love, strength, and an unyielding spirit. Born in Milot, Haiti, Philo later made The Bahamas her home, where she lived a life full of warmth, generosity, and joy.
Philo shared a deep and enduring bond with her late partner, Jules Lesbott, creating a life together filled with love and happiness.
Being a great Christian, mother, family, and friend was her greatest joy, and she nurtured these relationships with boundless love and affection.
A devout Seven-Day Adventist, one of Philomena’s proudest moments was when she was baptized, deepening her faith and commitment to God. Her strong faith guided her actions, whether she was feeding the less fortunate, visiting and supporting immigrants in detention centers, or simply offering a kind word to those in need.
Philo was a true fighter, embodying a fighting spirit that manifested in everything she did. She loved life and embraced it fully, and loved celebrating her favorite holidays—Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s—with lots of food and love. Philo was a fashionista with impeccable style! She loved fashion and shopping, always favoring her favorite color, blue, which reflected her calm and serene nature. She also had an entrepreneurial spirit that inspired many around her.
She was a lover of nature and enjoyed taking morning walks, finding peace and beauty in the world around her. Animals held a special place in her heart, especially dogs, her home was never without one.
Philo had a passion for travel, loved road trips and learning about new places. A fan of wrestling, she enjoyed watching her favorite wrestler, John Cena, who, like her, symbolized resilience and strength.
Philo is survived by her four children, Walky, Louis, William, and Rachel; her cherished grandchildren; her sister, Julie, her brothers, Rony, Willy and Arnold. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Though we are deeply saddened by her loss, we are not saying goodbye but instead, “See you soon.” Philomena’s legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire and guide us.
Funeral services will be held at 910 W Michigan St, Orlando, FL 32805, on September 8, 2024, at 9 a.m.
