Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, in 1930, Librada’s journey began humbly but with strength and determination. As a teenager, she moved to New York City, to the Bronx, alongside her three sisters, for a better life—a journey arranged by a dear family friend. She often reminisced about those early days, learning English, visiting the iconic “El Boricua” theater, and working tirelessly in a dress factory.

In 1956, her life took a divine turn when she met Francisco Flores in Miami and made Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. That same year, she began her unwavering journey of faith, which became the foundation of her legacy.

Librada was blessed with three daughters in consecutive years—1957, 1958, and 1959—and dedicated herself fully to her role as a homemaker. She ensured her family never lacked love, care, or the necessities of life. Beyond providing for their physical needs, she sowed seeds of faith in her daughters’ hearts, teaching them the Word of God and inspiring them to live lives devoted to Christ.

One of the most profound gifts she left us was her example of worship. Librada believed in offering praise to the Father with excellence. She often encouraged her daughters to rehearse their songs until they were perfect, knowing that music was a powerful form of worship. Her favorite hymn, “Me Voy Con Él”, became a personal declaration of her faith. She joyfully sang it on her 94th birthday, saying, “I wish it were today.”

Librada is survived by daughters, Crucita Flores, Evelyn Flores y Myrian Santiago; sisters, Teresa Vasquez and Juanita Vasquez; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
