A murder suspect has been arrested in New Jersey, months after he allegedly shot and killed a woman during a domestic altercation in Orlando.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Shandale Pierre Francis, 44, was arrested in Union City, New Jersey, on a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm in connection with the March 2024 shooting death of 35-year-old Sharima Martin.

At around 2 a.m. on March 17, 2024, Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the intersection of S Apopka Vineland Road and Lake Bryan Beach Boulevard in reference to shots being fired in the area, according to OCSO.

When deputies arrived on scene, they located a woman, later identified as Martin, who had been shot. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, and she later died from her injuries.

“This incident is domestic in nature and there are no outstanding suspects,” stated OCSO in a media release on the day of the shooting.

A homicide investigation ensued, which led detectives to identifying Francis as a suspect in the case.

Ten months later, on Friday, January 24, 2025, OCSO announced that Francis was in police custody in New Jersey. He was transported to the Union County Detention Center, where he remains in custody while awaiting extradition to Orange County.

“This is still an active homicide investigation,” said OCSO on Friday. “We do not have further details to release at this time.”
