A motorcyclist was killed in Orange County on Monday night, and another was critically injured, after they crashed while exiting Interstate 4 and fell from an overpass.
The fatal accident occurred shortly after 9:10 p.m. on Monday, April 21, on the I-4 Eastbound exit ramp to Maitland Boulevard, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Two motorcyclists – identified in the report as a 25-year-old Kissimmee woman and 34-year-old Orlando man – were traveling next to each other on I-4 as they approached Exit 90 (Maitland Boulevard).
FHP stated that when both motorcyclists rode onto the exit ramp, they failed to negotiate a right curve. As a result, both motorcycles collided with a concrete wall, and the riders were thrown from their vehicles.
A trooper noted that both riders fell from the overpass and landed on a grassy field below. The Kissimmee woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
The Orlando man was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. No further updates were provided regarding his condition.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
