A 30-year-old man was fatally struck by two vehicles on Saturday night after he attempted to run across the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County.
The crash occurred on the Turnpike, near mile marker 251 (State Road 417), shortly after 9:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
A trooper noted that two vehicles – a 2021 Toyota Highlander (SUV) with four occupants and a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado (pickup truck) with three occupants – were heading southbound on the Turnpike in the inside lane. The SUV was traveling ahead of the pickup truck.
The report stated that the 30-year-old man “began running east from the woodline,” entering the southbound lanes in the direct path of the SUV and pickup truck. He was then struck by both vehicles.
The man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The occupants of the SUV and pickup truck were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
