A man has been charged with first-degree murder after his girlfriend and her friend were fatally shot in Orlando on Sunday.

According to the Orlando Police Department, the shooting occurred at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, at the Village Springs apartment complex located on Cinderlane Parkway.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they found two female victims who had been shot.

The victims were both transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where they later died from their injuries.

OPD stated that a preliminary investigation revealed that one of the victims was in a relationship with a male suspect, identified as Eliette De Jesus Marquez. The second victim was a friend of the first victim.

De Jesus Marquez allegedly fled from the incident location on foot, prior to the arrival of law enforcement. However, he was eventually located, placed under arrest, and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
