A 44-year-old Orlando man was killed on Thursday night after the electronic bike he was riding was struck by a car in Orange County.

The fatal crash occurred at around 10:25 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, at the intersection of Oak Ridge Road and Harcourt Avenue, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2016 Kia Optima was traveling eastbound on Oak Ridge Road when it approached Harcourt Avenue. At the same time, the e-bike was traveling in an unknown direction on the crosswalk at the intersection.

The report stated that the front section of the Kia proceeded to crash into the e-bike. After the collision, the e-bike’s rider was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver and sole occupant of the Kia, identified in the report as a 40-year-old Orlando man, was not hurt and remained on-scene.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
