David Carr passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 3, 2026. David was born September 13, 1943, in Red Hill, Kentucky, at his family home. He lived a full and accomplished life devoted to family, service, and his profession. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth “Liz” Carr and a devoted father to Jonathan Carr, Jason Carr, and Justin Carr. He was also a proud father-in-law to Gina Carr and Tasha Carr, and a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his brother, Darnell Carr; his mother, Effie Basham Carr; and his father, Arthur Stanford Carr. He is survived by his brother, Larry Carr; and his cousin and best friend, Lonnie Warren.
He was the grandson of Kate Carr, John Arthur Carr, Lewis Basham, Sr., and Lula Billings Basham.
David spent his early years in Kentucky before his family relocated to Orlando, Florida, in 1955. He attended Vine Grove Elementary School, Howard Junior High School, and W.R. Boone High School. He continued his education at Orlando Junior College, Georgia State University, and ultimately earned his pharmacy education from Mercer School of Pharmacy.
In 1975, David and his wife Liz founded Carr’s Pharmacy, building a legacy of care and service in their community. He retired from the pharmacy in 2000, passing operations to his son Jon. His son Jason later joined the business, and the brothers continued operations under the name Palliative Pharmacy Solutions.
After retiring from pharmacy, David continued his commitment to public service by accepting a position with the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency. He attended the North Georgia Police Academy and served with dedication until his retirement from the agency in 2015. He later served as Director of Pharmacy with Healthqwest Addiction Pharmacy.
David will be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his profession, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the family he cherished.
