A 21-year-old Orlando man was killed on Saturday night after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a roadway in Orange County.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred shortly after 10:35 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, near the intersection of Gatlin Avenue and Evander Drive.
An 18-year-old Orlando man was reportedly traveling westbound on Gatlin Avenue in a BMW 535i sedan, just west of the Evander Drive intersection.
FHP stated that at the same time, the 21-year-old pedestrian was heading toward the north shoulder when he attempted to cross Gatlin Avenue. The report mentioned that he was not in a marked crosswalk when he stepped onto the roadway and into the direct path of the oncoming BMW.
The front section of the BMW struck the pedestrian. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The BMW’s driver was uninjured and remained at the incident location, according to the report.
An FHP trooper noted that the deadly crash remains under investigation.
