The Orlando Magic have officially rounded out their coaching staff, announcing a slew of assistant coaches who will serve under newly appointed head coach Sean Sweeney.

President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced the new staff members on Monday. The Orlando Magic named Joe Prunty, Greg Buckner, Popeye Jones, Tom Bialaszewski, Riley Crean, Jon Harris, Ben Johnson, Jacqlyn Poss, and Mfon Udofia as assistant coaches.

In addition to those roles, D.J. Bakker was appointed as assistant coach and director of player development, while Shannan Lum was named assistant coach and director of coaching operations.

The newly finalized staff brings a wealth of professional coaching experience to Orlando. Joe Prunty is entering his second season as an assistant with the Magic and has been involved in the NBA for 30 seasons, having won three NBA Championships throughout his career.

Popeye Jones arrives in Orlando after serving as an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, and he previously helped the Denver Nuggets capture an NBA Championship during the 2022-23 campaign.

The staff also features internal promotions, such as Jacqlyn Poss, who is entering her fifth season with the organization. She previously spent over three seasons as a senior data scientist within Orlando’s basketball operations department before transitioning to her new assistant coaching role.

Beyond the bench, Weltman announced two additions to the broader basketball operations department: Curtis Lewis has been hired as the head video coordinator, and Nicholas Russo will serve as manager of basketball strategy.

The new coaching hires will report directly to Sweeney, who was officially named head coach of the franchise on June 1. According to the media release, the financial terms of the deals were not disclosed, per team policy.

Sweeney and his staff will look to bring a championship to a franchise that originally joined the NBA in 1989. While the Magic have yet to win the NBA Finals, they have won eight division championships (1995, 1996, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2019, 2024, 2025) and captured two Eastern Conference titles (1995 and 2009).

The team plays its home games in downtown Orlando at the Kia Center, which is located at 400 W Church Street.
