Nintendo game design, Minecraft coding classes at Orlando Public Library

Children are invited to take part in multiple classes covering video game programming at the Orlando Public Library this week.

The library will host a Nintendo Game Design class on Tuesday, December 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. During the class, students will use Super Mario Maker 2 to construct their own Super Mario levels with enemies, obstacles, and rewards. The class is available to children ages 10 to 12, and should last an hour and a half.

The library will also host a Code with Minecraft class for children ages 7 to 9 for one hour. That class will teach students how to use code to help two characters explore the high seas. Students will program algorithms, loops, and conditions to complete code challenges.

There is an “out-of-district” fee of $10 associated with each class, and materials will be provided. Basic computer skills are required to participate.

An adult or caregiver must accompany children 10 years of age or younger while they are attending an event.

For more information on this event or others like it, visit the Orange County Public Library System website.
