Apopka Citizens Police Academy accepting applications

The Apopka Police Department will host a 14-week Citizens’ Police Academy for residents interested in learning about the departments and agencies that comprise the local police force.

The Citizens Police Academy is designed to acquaint community residents with the activities of APD and to foster public education and service at community-related events.

The academy is a prerequisite for those looking to volunteer for the police force by joining the Apopka Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. ACPAAA volunteers work throughout the year for events hosted by the city of Apopka and APD.

Participants in the academy will learn about criminal investigations, SWAT, K-9, and other services offered by the Apopka Police Department. The class is taught by officers and civilian employees.

To apply for the academy, visit the Apopka Citizens Police Academy webpage, or stop by the front lobby of the Apopka Police Department at 112 E 6th Street in Apopka.
