Two dead in apparent murder-suicide in St. Cloud

Two people were killed in an apparent murder-suicide in St. Cloud, according to police.

During a press conference on Tuesday, February 7, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez provided details of the fatal incident.

According to Lopez, a father called 911 to report that his “son was upset” and that police should head to his home in St. Cloud to investigate.

Deputies arrived on the scene and saw a man, who has not yet been identified, walking around the corner of his home while stating “please don’t shoot my dog.” As the man ran around the corner, deputies heard a gunshot.

The responding officers moved around the back of the residence to see what had happened and found the man laying on the ground, wounded from a self-inflicted gunshot.

Deputies also noticed a woman lying on the ground nearby. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.

Lopez says there is no history of domestic violence at the residence and that authorities are still unsure of the cause of death of the woman. Authorities believe the man and woman were in a relationship.

The man, who Lopez says was in his 20s, has not been identified by police. The investigation is ongoing.
