According to authorities, a 58-year-old Palm Coast man was stopped in his 2007 GMC Yukon in the eastbound lane of Lancaster Road, just west of S Orange Avenue. His vehicle was stopped on the railroad tracks.

Shortly after, a SunRail train heading northbound activated the railroad crossing arms, which descended and struck the front of the SUV.

The driver failed to move his vehicle off the railroad tracks as the train approached, and the front of the train collided with the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

Due to the impact, the vehicle rotated clockwise and multiple unsecured items were thrown out of it, including a black jump box that hit a nearby pedestrian standing in a parking lot at 6555 S Orange Avenue.

The driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The conductor and 47 passengers on the train were not injured.
