Vicarene Tulloch

Beloved wife and mother Vicarene Tulloch of Windsor, Connecticut and Orlando, Florida, was born to the late Cyril and Cordelia McDonald on March 26, 1931, in St. Catherine, Jamaica. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

She accepted Christ our Lord at an early age and remained His life-long and humble Christian servant. A twenty-four-year member of the First Church of God, Hartford, CT, she served as a member of the Building Fund Committee and as a treasurer. For the last twenty-six years, she has been a member of Koinonia Ministries of Central Florida Church. There she served as a treasurer and an usher, and she made many more friends who became her adopted family who affectionally called her “Mother T.” She remained a faithful, active member of the church until her health prevented her from physically participating.

In 1950, she married the love of her life, Peter Tulloch, Sr., and in 1964 the couple eventually migrated from Jamaica, West Indies, to Hartford, CT, and later to Windsor, CT. In 1977, she graduated from The Connecticut Institute of Hair Design in East Hartford, CT, and obtained her hairdressing license from the State of Connecticut Department of Health. Thereafter, she worked as a beautician and private certified nursing assistant until she retired. In 1994, she migrated from Windsor, CT, to Orlando, FL, but was not content to be an inactive retiree. Therefore, she began working as residential care home manager, ensuring her clients received compassionate and loving care, and later as a greeter at Walmart, where she could spread her infectious smile to every stranger who crossed her path.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed participating at the Rosemount Community Senior Center, where she met new friends and engaged in several activities like bowling. She joined the tournament league and went on educational trips to historic African American locations in Florida, like the Rosewood Massacre and Bethune Cookman College. Additionally, she loved creating ceramic art, spending time with her grandchildren, and praising and serving the Lord. She was a friend to all she met. She maintained a wonderful sense of humor, always able to bring a smile or laugh to anyone who needed one.

She was loved by all who met her, Vicarene leaves to cherish her beautiful legacy her husband, Peter Tulloch, Sr., her daughters, Marsha Towana Tulloch-Marshall (Patrick), Dorothy Dunbar, and son Peter Tulloch, Jr., grandchildren Natasha Dunbar, Peter Javon Tulloch III, Tyrese Marshall, Josiah Marshall, Peter Prince Tulloch IV, Nathan Tulloch, and Natlie Tulloch; her siblings Dorothea Merrow, Euleta McDonald, Urina Getfield and Collin McDonald plus a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

The family requests that flowers be sent to Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando or donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in loving memory of Mrs. Vicarene “Vicky” Tulloch.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 9:30AM until services begin at 11:00AM at Koinonia Ministries of Central Florida, 5928 Gilliam Road, Orlando with Pastor James C. Monroe, officiating. Interment: Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 E. Semoran Boulevard, Apopka 32703.
