Surfing in Orlando? SeaWorld opening new coaster in May

A new surf coaster is gearing up for launch at the Coaster Capital of Orlando.

Pipeline will open for business at SeaWorld Orlando in May, according to a brief update provided by Rob McNicholas, Vice President of Park Operations at SeaWorld Orlando.

Billed as the “only ride in the world” in which riders can “mimic the movement of surfing,” the ride will mark the park’s seventh roller coaster.

Pipeline features 2,950 feet of track, with a top height of 110 feet and a top speed of 60 mph.

The roller coaster will keep riders in a standing position, with platforms that will simulate riding waves. The harnesses for each car will keep riders secure while also allowing them to move freely.

Only riders who are 54″ and taller will be able to ride the new coaster, according to park officials.

Currently, the park is hosting its Seven Seas Food Festival, featuring performances by multiple music artists.

In February 2022, the park opened Ice Breaker, its first launch roller coaster. That ride reaches a maximum height of 93 feet, maximum speed of 52 mph, and has 1,900 feet of track.
