Rodent droppings, damaged oyster sauce cans behind Chinese restaurant closure

A Chinese restaurant in Apopka was forced to temporarily close after a health inspector cited multiple code violations, including 60 rodent droppings and damaged cans of oyster sauce.

No. 1 Chinese Restaurant, which is located at 38 E Main Street in Apopka, was forced to temporarily close its doors on Tuesday, May 16, after a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited at least 18 code violations.

Among the violations, which included seven labeled high priority, was the presence of rodent activity as evidenced by 60 rat droppings found on top of a microwave in the kitchen.

Additionally, live, small flying insects were found in the kitchen, and two five-pound cans of oyster sauce were dented or rusted, according to the report.

The restaurant was reinspected on Wednesday, May 17, and was permitted to reopen after only eight violations were cited.
